Jenn Nixon: Co-Founder & Chairman

During her own 8 year journey to parenthood, Jenn Nixon saw a need for education, support, and grant assistance within the Richmond infertility community. With the help of her Mom, Lee Ann Pond, The Race to Parenthood 5k and The Road to Parenthood were born.

In addition to co-founding and organizing The Race to Parenthood 5k, Jenn is the Chairman of The Road to Parenthood Board, she co-leads the RESOLVE RVA Third Party Reproduction Support group, has been a RESOLVE Advocacy Day Team Leader for the Mid-Atlantic region, and participates in the annual Richmond Fertility Workshop. She works full time as the School Activities & Volunteer Coordinator at The Faison School and she is currently working on completing her bachelors degree at the University of Richmond’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies.



Michele Whiteside: Vice-Chairman

When she’s not organizing the annual Richmond Fertility Workshop, Michele is the Vice-Chairman of The Road to Parenthood Board, she leads the RESOLVE RVA North Infertility Support Group, has participated in the RESOLVE Advocacy Day and Walk of Hope, and is the Race Director for The Race to Parenthood 5K. She works full time as the Director of Advancement Events for the University of Mary Washington and has her own consulting business where she does local event/wedding planning and works with other universities across the country on software implementations. Michele graduated with a BA and MLA from the University of Richmond and is a very active alumna.




Josh Sessions: Board Member

Josh partnered with R. Keith Bell, a Licensed Acupuncturist, to found Oriental Medicine Specialists, PC in 2000, Richmond’s first comprehensive Traditional and Classical Chinese Medicine clinic. Today OMS is recognized as a leading center for acupuncture and Holistic Fertility Enhancement. In addition to being a respected teacher & workshop instructor, Josh works as part of the Integrative team lead by Keith Bell, LAc and Dr. Anish Shah. As a Health Coach, he combines his extensive knowledge of holistic nutrition, health coaching, & preventive health with years of experience & unique insight to support & empower clients in achieving their goals, improving their health & living an inspired life.



Dr. Anish Shah: Board Member

Dr. Shah is a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist and infertility expert.   He practices at Virginia Fertility Associates where he is a full partner.   He is also a partner in the IVF lab called Virginia IVF & Andrology.   He specializes in all fertility care including IVF, reproductive genetics, recurrent miscarriage and fertility surgery.  He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and holds a masters degree in clinical research focusing in cost effectiveness analysis from Duke University.   He also completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Duke University Medical Center.  His medical degree is from the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University and an undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he graduated with full honors.

Prior to coming to Richmond, Virginia, he was an active researcher in infertility and continues to collaborate with others in hopes of advancing the field.  Currently, he continues to actively treat patients locally, nationally and internationally along with teaching local Ob/Gyn’s to improve infertility treatment.   He is a honored national speaker for Serono Merck and travels the country teaching advance fertility care.

At both Virginia Fertility Associates and Virginia IVF & Andrology, they believe in patient-centered care.   As part of that mission, they have always felt community outreach is important.   Dr. Shah sits on the board of the Road to Parenthood to always support its mission and solidify his practice’s deep commitment to the Road to Parenthood.

He is a father of two, husband and active runner and hiker.
